OUR FAMILY'S CONNECTION TO ST ANNE
|
| When I went to
church as a little girl, my Mother always let me use a little rosary
that she carried in her rosary pouch. This was a very special
rosary as a parish priest had brought it back from Canada for her.
It was to help my Mother get feeling better as she was in ill
health. A few years later my Mother was given 5 years to
live. Since my Mother was only 38 the Beads of St Anne became even
more important to her as a source of comfort. All through my young adult years I had tried to find this rosary so I could have one, but no one had every heard of the Beads of St Anne. I finally gave up. One day we received a call telling us that our Mother, who was 83, was being taken to the hospital wit heart pains. When we reached the hospital, Mother was all upset not because she was being admitted for heart pains, but because she had discovered that on the way she had lost her Beads of St Anne which she had taken to carrying in her pocket ever since my Dad had died 12 years earlier. She was heartbroken at the loss of her chaplet. This started my sister and I on a wonderful search. My sister started searching the internet and I called the Minneapolis library. I connected with a lovely lady who when I told her the story of the Beads of St Anne and my 83 year old Mother she said she would do her best, but she really didn't know if she could find out anything. A half hour later she called back elated with the whole story of the Beads of St Anne, the address in Canada, and everything we needed to get the new Beads of St Anne. During this time my sister discovered that we could learn how to make rosaries. We immediately set out to get instructions, tools, beads, centers and crucifixes. My Mother was thrilled with the replacement of her Beads of St Anne and my sister and I found a craft that gives us comfort and a joy that is immeasurable. The only explanation for the wonderful feeling is that we have made a rosary! The ROSARY BOX was started! St Anne will always be an important influence in our lives.
